Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a quiet neighborhood located on the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. The West Island can be confusing to people unfamiliar of its purpose. It is often believed that it's an island to the that lies west of Montreal, but it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the two cities in Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel was born there and her time there was short. Brugel lived in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. She initially wanted to be an actor, but after a sudden increase in size, her friends could no longer dance with her. A Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. As I got bigger than my male partners, I quit. Bruce was among the former dancers who shifted into acting. The teacher she had at high school was the one who pushed her to take the next step. The teacher encouraged her to try out for roles in a school production. After trying out the role, she was chosen as the main character of Anne of Green Gables. It led to an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program which she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2000. Over the past 20 years since, Brugel has landed roles in more than 60 productions on the big and small screens, attracting the greatest interest when she was offered the role as Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian actress in the season 1 and was only seen on occasion.
